Here is what Google Maps High-Definition for Volvo and Polestar EVs Offers.

Google Maps High-Definition

Polestar and Volvo electric vehicles (EVs) will soon offer their users a more thorough navigation tool thanks to Google Maps High-Definition.

When the Polestar 3 SUV debuts on the market in late 2023, owners will be the first to have access to the higher-resolution driving maps.

As a result, it would be a while before the new HD version of Google Maps was released. But what should we anticipate from it?

Google High Definition Maps

According to The Verge’s most recent report, Google has unveiled a brand-new Google Maps for drivers.

According to reports, the high-definition version has more information than the current version. So, we anticipate directly pulling up lane markings and road signs from the navigation app.

Nowadays, drivers have a helpful companion in the form of navigational apps like Google Maps.

However, they only really have the ability to tell the direction. They continue to overlook important details like lane markings.

This time, however, the industry leader in search is getting ready to introduce a new HD maps app for Volvo and Polestar EVs.

Next, regarding Volvo and Polestar EVs

The HD navigation map will make its debut on the Polestar 3 when it comes to the United States later this year, according to a report by Engadget.

Along with the Polestar EV, the Volvo EX90 SUV will soon have Google Maps with a higher resolution.

Google has only mentioned that it will soon be available on Volvo and Polestar models. The tech giant has yet to confirm whether they also intend to bring it to other automakers that use Android, such as Honda, Renault, and General Motors, according to Engadget (GM).

How to Prepare

The upgraded version most likely debuts later this year, just in time for the Polestar 3’s launch.
Thanks to the cameras, lidar, and radar sensors found in vehicles, HD Maps now has access to more data. These sensors also support the EVs’ driver-assist features.

Jörgen Behrens, Vice President and General Manager of GEO Automotive at Google, outlined the benefits of the HD map.

“Google’s new HD map is specifically designed for automakers and provides comprehensive lane-level and localization data that is crucial to powering the next generation of assisted and autonomous driving systems,” the tech executive claims.

The new feature, according to Behrens, should “improve the safety and comfort of drivers everywhere.”

The new HD maps not only assist drivers in better route planning, according to Engadget. Instead, it might help these vehicles’ self-driving capabilities.
