General Release

You can either wait for your phone to pop up an alert telling you that iOS 16 is available, or you can manually force the update.
(Backing up your data is usually a good idea before updating.)

Select Settings > General > Software Update from the menu. Either you’ll be instantly redirected to Download and Install or you’ll need to press Upgrade to iOS 16 at the bottom of the screen before you can Download and Install. In either case, you’ll be asked to enter your iPhone’s passcode if it has one.
Accept Apple’s terms, then wait afterward.

Update Requested will appear on the screen, indicating that Apple has added you to the download queue.
You’ll notice a time estimate metre at the top once iOS 16 starts downloading; how long you have to wait depends on how many people are attempting to upgrade. The next step, which could also take a few minutes, is to reboot your phone.

You’ll receive a notification requesting that you temporarily uninstall apps if your device does not have enough space for the new iOS.
When the installation is complete, press Continue, and the apps will be restored. Hit Cancel and manually uninstall any programes you don’t trust before updating.

Additionally, automatic updates can be enabled. Select Automatic Updates under Settings > General > Software Update.
When plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi, your iOS device will update to the most recent version of iOS throughout the course of the night.
