According to a report by AFP, Samsung Electronics, the largest smartphone manufacturer in South Korea, is planning to deliver a cutting-edge real-time translation service coupled with artificial intelligence technology in the future year. The service will be available globally.
The real-time translation capability is set to make its debut in the next generation of Samsung’s Galaxy flagship device, which is targeted for an early release in 2024. During phone calls, this technology will enable instant translation in both audio and text forms, regardless of the number of languages supported, which is currently unknown at this time. The number of languages supported is currently unknown.
It is very important to note that the translation solution will work faultlessly even if the call recipient is using a smartphone that Samsung does not make. This interoperability is accomplished by utilizing “on-device AI technology,” which allows for the sharing of data between devices.
AI Live Translate Call
In a press statement, Samsung emphasized that using this AI capability to communicate with someone who speaks a foreign language would be as simple as turning on closed captions while streaming TV. It is important to note that any private discussions that are carried out through this translation service will remain safely ensconced within the phones.
“AI Live Translate Call will soon make it possible for users of the newest Galaxy AI phone to have access to a personal translator anytime they require it. According to an official release made by Samsung, the trouble associated with utilizing third-party apps is no longer necessary now that the capability has been integrated into the native call functionality.
“Audio and text translations will appear in real-time as you speak, making calling someone who speaks another language about as simple as turning on closed captions when you stream a show.”
This disclosure comes at the same time as Samsung is continuing work on its generative artificial intelligence model, which is known as Samsung Gauss. The personnel at this organization are already proficient in three languages, coding, and image-Gauss, and they are operating in all of these simultaneously.
In the not-too-distant future, Samsung intends to include this AI system in a variety of their devices; however, detailed details regarding timing and supported models have not yet been published by the company.
Galaxy AI, which Samsung describes as a “comprehensive mobile AI experience,” was also presented by the company. Galaxy AI seeks to reinvent the mobile experience while placing a premium on users’ right to privacy and security. It does this by utilizing both on-device AI that was developed by Samsung and cloud-based AI that was produced through joint work with industry experts.
The ability of Galaxy AI to bring about revolutionary change was brought to light by Wonjoon Choi, who serves as Executive Vice President and Head of Research and Development for Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business.
He added that Galaxy AI is their most comprehensive supply of intelligence to this point. Samsung views its Galaxy AI platform as a key component in removing obstacles to establishing and maintaining social connections. The company’s overarching goal is to make communication more approachable and productive.
